Last weekend Geoffrey Kie, an AmeriCorps VISTA member at the Arizona Historical Society organized a special event at the Pioneer Museum. The event highlighted the history of stewardship from indigenous peoples in northern Arizona, as well as highlights of current projects happening in the community. Geoffrey explains, “Growing up around places of cultural importance it was synonymous with respecting the land, air and water around me. Cultural values of respect have been the main driver in how I have gone through my day to day life and I firmly believe that how I got to this point in life.” It has been great to watch Geoffrey bring his perspective to the Pioneer Museum and see new ways to connect the local community with its history and a sense of place.
